Small Cross Spider (Argiope minuta, 小悦目金蛛).
In Spring, I frequently observed a kogane spider (argiope amoena) in Wangling Park. I have not seen it since, but today in the same park, i found two similar argiope minuta, laying in wait for their afternoon meals.

Oxyopes Sertatus
Oxyopes sertatus (斜纹猫蛛).
A a small (usually slightly under or over a centimetre in length) and very common lynx spider in Changsha: in warm or mild weather they are often laying in wait on reeds or leaves. They have long black setae on all their legs and a strange geometry: their abdomens form a stretched isosceles triangle, have two small eyes on their front and six larger eyes arranged hexagonally on the top of their heads.

Black-Striped Orchard Spider
Black-Striped Orchard Spider (Leucauge celebesiana, 西里银鳞蛛).
Several of these spiders have built their angled webs over a small stream on Yuelu Mountain. Their white abdomens, with their green-tinged black stripes make them look like little melons.

Female Kogane Spider
This colourful spider was enjoying an afternoon meal in the garden in Wangling Park. They are usually very timid but this one did not mind my close examination.

Araneus Ventricosus
Araneus ventricosus (大腹园蛛).
This orb weaver was occupying a tidy web by the Xiang river. If is is not one of the most common local spiders, it is one of the most noticeable: one often stumbles upon its large webs in dense bushes and forest pathways.
